Our Green Fabrication Process
Simply Stone strives to be environmentally friendly in all that we do from the products we use to the way we handle production in our shop.
The stone cutting process uses water to keep the tooling cool as well as to keep dust from filling the air. Some shops use fresh water for this and dump it straight to the sewers. This is known as single pass water usage. At Simply Stone we filter this water and reuse it continuously. We only have to add water that is lost due to evaporation. Because of this system, our water usage is just a few gallons a day in the production area. We actually use more water in the office and showroom bathrooms than the entire production facility. We recycle approximately 50000 gallons of water per week.
We also recycle all of our stone scrap. Rather than placing it in a trash dumpster and sending it to a landfill Simply Stone has partnered with CJ Miller and Rolloff Express to take all of our stone scraps and turn them into asphalt. About once a month, Rolloff Express picks up our stone-only dumpster and dumps it at CJ Miller who in turn grinds our stone scraps into asphalt for many uses. So, next time you are driving on that new road, you may very well be driving on granite from Simply Stone.
